How are our thoughts formed???

How are views formed in our mind? How do we decide what we think about a matter? How are our thoughts influenced? We have only two senses which play a role here, what we hear and what we see. Our thoughts are greatly molded by what we read in the newspapers, magazines etc. What we see on the idiot box and the kind of discussion we have have with others also go a long way to fortify our views. I have never met Bin Laden, neither would have 99 % of the world, but we all know that he's a bad person and a terrorist. How? Why did we decide upon this? I had never heard about SIMI organization ever before but if you ask me now after the recent serial blasts, I would wish all members of SIMI were hanged to death. Why such a stern view? I have been watching all this news, reading the papers. The police repeatedly tells me that they are BAD. I believe them. Maybe they are, maybe they are not, maybe some of them are. Here the role of media and press comes to the forefront. They are the ones who are forging our thoughts. A lot has been spoken, written and discussed and even media itself discusses "the role of media in our society".

I have been living in Jammu these days. Most people would be aware of the protests, clashes bandh situation in J&K. Here also lies a classic example of how the thoughts of people are charmed upon. The local news channel of Jammu called JK was completely in support of the samiti agitation and used to broadcast live protests and speeches and used to specifically show footages wherein the police used tear-gas and lathi and rarely showed the stone pelting act of the protesters against the police. According to them always the protest used to be peaceful and suddenly the police used to arrive and lathi charge them. Now what kind of views would a 16-17 year old get from this, one of hatred against the government, one of rebellion. Same has been happening in Kashmir for long. If you pick up one the local Kashmir papers you would quickly realise why they have so much anti-national feelings. Its full of articles on how Jammu is blocking medicine cargo to the valley, how the center government is turning a blind-eye to the feelings of the valley. I am no expert on J&K issues but its not tough to understand the role media has played in adding fuel to the fire..... ...

So how does one detach itself or not get influended by everything that is said
or written. That is a tough question? I guess deciding rationally after seeing all the facts on hand can be your best bet. Also thinking economically
about a matter, who gets to benefit the money, who loses the money can also give one a better view.

MEMORIES

I think it was about time that the thought that I would be leaving IITB for good crossed my mind. Just saw Shawshank Redemption last night. This was the first movie I had seen after coming to IITB. Another sweet memory and what a film? Definitely one of the most underrated TOP 10 IMDB movie.

Coming back to memories, these are what I would be leaving IITB with, besides a degree(couple of them actually). Have spent nearly 1/3rd of my conscious life here, have made great friends for life, have tasted success a number of times, have come face-to-face with my biggest fears, have learnt a lot, and have definitely matured from the 17 year old that i came here as.
Man 5 years is a lot of time. God only knows how many times I would have crossed the convocation hall in those 5 years...How many times I would have typed in my Netmon ID... How many times I would have said "daya" and "infi". Nobody was talking about booming economy back then. Finance jobs what are those?
We used to listen to radios in our rooms and owning a mobile was a luxury. We used to curse DOSA amarnath everyday for the bike ban and making us walk in the summer. There used to be IIT special parathas in Nutan, Hiranandani. Very few people had DIGI cams, I don't have any pic from my first year. Used to watch alizee’s video again and again. Waking up till 5 a.m. to watch movies and chatting...
I'll definitely MISS those days :(

gOOOOOOOOOOOOOgle

Its performance is the envy of executives and engineers around the world ... For techno-evangelists, Google is a marvel of Web brilliance ... For Wall Street, it is the IPO that changed everything (again)

Its a phenomena...Its so powerful that many of us have never used other search like live.com and yahoo search (which according to experts are as good as google)..Search has become synchronous with google.

I have just finished reading "The Google Story" and am all praise for Google rite now...Its everywhere...from search, e-mail, gtalk, orkut, google earth, spreadsheet, blogspot, youtube, google news...Its one stop for everything u want on the net...No wonder many have tried to emulate google...but the charm of google is so so high that people come back to google even when it has done zero marketing till date... Most of us still wonder how the hell does google make money....The using of the word "sponsored link" for ADs is also a brilliance in itself. The most prized real estate in the internet world is the Google main page...but as the company wants the page to be loaded quickly, there r no ads on it...I can go lengths and lengths on praises about google...it wud be better you read the book...Hats off to google for making life simpler :) One can look for what mite google become in 2084 below...

I am FAT

Ok I agree I am Fat. And I have to say that America has made me FAT. If you eat junk food every day, you are bound to get fat. So what exactly is Junk food ? In short, junk food is any kind of food not intended to be part of a balanced nutrition. It doesn't have to be "bad" for you, it just has to be something created mostly for satisfaction than nutrition. Satisfaction is the keyword here. It satisfies you fast , It is mosty cheap and it is readily available. Thats what makes it a staple diet for most americans. It is definitely not nutritious and it is fattening. I gained around 20-25 pounds and I can safely blame it on the junk food that i have been eating. These Days I cannot even face the sight of burger and fries.

Thr have been days when I had a Hotdog,HamBurger and a coke in Cafeteria for lunch and had dinner in Mc Donalds because I was too tired to cook after a hard days work. I know I am to blame for all the fat I am going to carry back to India with me but I am not that worried because I am sure I will burn it off as life in INDIA is much more active, but what about these americans. They r getting obese day by day, all these fast food giants make attractive advertisements people r caught in their trap and Junk food is definitely addictive if you are lazy and wanna just satisfy your hunger.

It is a big commercial market and companies like Mc Donals, Wendy's and KFC etc are sucking up people's bucks. Consumers in US spent about US$146 billion on fast food in 2006. The picture above is a typical neighbourhood in america. Competition among fast food giants all along.

At last I would just say God save the americans otherwise they would just burst out one day with all the junk food consumed :P

TeamScream World Cup Shoutmap

Possibly the most annoying Google Maps mashup yet. Clicking around various points on the TeamScream map brings up YouTube videos of football fans yelling out the name of their World Cup team, along with some dancing or spasms or similar retardation. Do check it out!!

hard on cash

I have to take out my anger on the university that I am doing my internship...I have to..Ok its in US ..super power... ..US of A blah blah..but this univ has more paper work and even more bureaucracy than even INDIA, It seems ppl r using 9/11 as a reason to work as slowly as possible . These guys have still not paid me, really spoiled my trip, can't go arnd places that i wanted to always visit.
